Operation Cupcake (2012)

Returning from a demanding deployment in Germany, Army Colonel Griff Carson is at a crossroads in his life. On the precipice of a promotion to General that would demand even more time overseas, Griff contemplates retirement, desiring to reconnect with his family who he feels are slowly drifting away. His wife Janet, engrossed in the establishment of her second bakeshop, and his teenage children, Kim and Ollie, who are rapidly growing up, all seem to have moved on, leaving Griff feeling like a stranger in his own home. In a bid to reintegrate him into their lives, Janet entrusts him with the management of her quaint, charming cupcake shop. Griff, initially hesitant, takes on the task with his ingrained military precision, treating the bakery as another mission to be conquered. However, his regimented approach lands the tranquil bakery in chaos, even teetering on the brink of a fiery disaster. His military-style discipline also ruffles feathers in the neighborhood, with Griff's overzealous protection causing friction when he mistakes his daughter's boyfriend for an intruder. Janet, on the brink of frustration, threatens to sever their already strained relationship unless Griff can transition from his military mindset to civilian family life. This ultimatum forces Griff to confront his future: either adapt and re-establish his role in the family or face a lonely existence as a soldier without a home front. With their family on the line, Griff is determined to prove his worthiness of a full-time father. He drafts the aid of a retired army friend to modernize the bakery, humbly makes amends with a skilled employee he drove away, and even swallows his pride to outmaneuver a rival bakery. Amidst all the flour and frosting, Griff embarks on his most challenging mission yet - to salvage his family relationships, prove his adaptability to civilian life and save the heart of his wife's business, the cherished cupcake shop.
