In the eerie aftermath of a car accident triggered by an insect swarm, teenagers Elizabeth, her brother Jeremy, Jessica, Rick, and the volatile Trey find themselves in the infirmary of the Marquez Academy, a mysterious institution for troubled youths. Unbeknownst to them, in the nearby woods, a young girl named Trina meets her end at the hands of a man cloaked like a monk. Simultaneously, Trina's uncle and guardian, Daniel, arrives in the adjacent town in search of his niece, only to be informed by the local sheriff of her tragic fate, seemingly at the jaws of coyotes.
