One Missed Call 2 (2005)

In the heart of Japan, Kyoko Okudera, a diligent daycare teacher, is persuaded by her friend and colleague, Madoka, to meet her boyfriend Naoto Sakurai at his bustling restaurant instead of sticking to her studious plans. But a chilling twist of fate unfurls when the restaurant owner, Mr. Wang, answers his daughter's phone and hears a message foretelling his imminent death in a horrific kitchen accident - a prophecy that instantly materializes. This chilling incident sparks the curiosity of Takako Nozoe, an investigative journalist with a penchant for the uncanny. She confronts Naoto with the fatal ringtone, triggering memories of similar death calls received by the now-deceased Mr. Wang and Madoka. Meanwhile, as Kyoko converses with Madoka, she glimpses a spectral figure in her phone, leading her to Madoka's apartment only to discover her lifeless body in a bathtub, with Naoto and Takako hot on her heels. Their collective probe uncovers that Mimiko's grandfather, Wei Zhang, resides in Taiwan. Desperate for answers, Takako enlists the help of her ex-husband, Yuting, to locate him. Concurrently, Kyoko becomes the recipient of the ominous call, and autopsies of Mr. Wang and Madoka reveal coal dust in their lungs and a conspicuous absence of candies — a grim pattern that deepens the mystery. In a race against time, Takako, Naoto, and Kyoko venture to Taiwan, hoping to unravel this deadly enigma and save Kyoko from her foretold doom. As the lethal ringtone echoes in places as far as Taiwan, causing a spate of agonizing deaths, the question lingers - can the living outsmart a spectral caller that seems to hold the strings of fate?
