Plot

In the gray tapestry of life, Jean-Claude, a 51-year-old man, finds himself embroiled in a relentless cycle of loneliness and melancholy. His days are spent in the stark confines of his notary office, as a "huissier de justice," delivering grim tidings of eviction and property seizure to those unable to meet their financial obligations. His cheerless existence is further punctuated by his obligatory Sunday visits to the retirement home of his irascible, perpetually dissatisfied father. A faint ray of hope begins to pierce Jean-Claude's dreary world when he stumbles upon a tango dance studio nestled across from his office. Following a minor heart scare and his doctor's advice to exercise, he decides to venture into this world of rhythm and passion. It is here that he crosses paths with Françoise, a vibrant woman on the cusp of her forties, charming and full of life. As they sway to the intimate dance of the tango, an unexpected connection sparks between them. Françoise, however, is not without her own complications. She's engaged and is taking classes in preparation for her wedding dance. The dance floor becomes a metaphorical crossroads for both, as they navigate their growing affection amid their respective life challenges. Their past intertwines as well, with Françoise recalling Jean-Claude as her childhood neighbor. As they step in tandem to the rhythm of life and dance, the question remains: will this unexpected love be their liberating tango or a dance of despair? Their story unfolds in a captivating dance of emotion, self-discovery, and the transformative power of connection.
