In the windswept, seaside town on the Flemish North Sea coast, a young, effervescently gay boy named Pim exists in a world of emotional solitude. His mother, Yvette, is a hedonistic nightclub waitress, more engrossed in her own life than nurturing her son. Pim, abandoned to his imagination, seeks solace in dreams of a caring father who might one day rescue him from his desolate life. Pim finds comfort in the neighboring household, a sanctuary where a single mother and her two teenage children accept him without judgment. Gino, the older and brash son, becomes Pim's confidant, his surrogate older brother, and eventually, his secret lover. They embark on a journey of sexual exploration, their innocent dalliances hidden within the sandy dunes of their coastal town. As Pim teeters on the edge of his fifteenth birthday, life's relentless tide of change begins to surge. Gino, fueled by dreams of independence, welcomes adulthood with open arms.
