Plot

Barkley Michaelson finds himself ensnared in the grip of life's monotonous drudgery, wrestling with the completion of his PhD thesis. His existence takes an intriguing turn, however, when his father, the intellectual titan Eli Michaelson, is honored with the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. Living under the same roof as Eli and his mother, Sarah, a distinguished forensic psychiatrist, Barkley is subjected to his father's increasingly flagrant infidelities, likened to a beast feasting without discretion. The plot thickens on the precipice of Eli's Nobel recognition, as Barkley is abruptly kidnapped. The captor's demand? The $2,000,000 in Nobel prize money. Unsurprisingly, Eli refuses to part with his newfound wealth, spiraling the narrative into a twisted saga of familial rifts, carnal desire, betrayal, and a thirst for vengeance. This narrative echoes the words of 16th-century philosopher Michel De Montaigne: "There is more barbarity in eating a man alive than in eating him dead," reflecting the savage tangles of the human condition explored within this gripping tale.
