On the brink of turning 40, Jose Stern, formerly known as Joseph Stern until he unearthed his 1/8th Mexican heritage, finds his life evolving into a melancholic symphony. His band, The Borges, once basking in the limelight, now play the humdrum chords of children's birthday parties. His existence, once tinged with a hint of misery, has now plunged into the profound depths of despair. But every cloud has a silver lining, and for Jose, it's Dusty - his radiant, compassionate, and unwaveringly supportive fiancée who is a veterinarian by profession. She is his beacon of calm in the storm of his life. However, when Dusty stumbles upon a hidden chapter from Jose's past, their harmonious duet abruptly ends. She banishes him into the chaotic embrace of his dysfunctional, married-with-children friends. As Jose navigates through the labyrinth of his burnt out friends' wisdom, encounters with a wildly unpredictable ex-girlfriend, and introspective journeys into his past, he embarks on a quest to find his true self. Amid the chaos and confusion, he also seeks to mend the rift with Dusty, hoping to rekindle the spark that once illuminated their lives.
