Plot

In the chilling anthology, 'Nightmares' (1983), four spine-tingling tales unfold, each one a macabre dance with urban legends. The first tale, 'Terror in Topanga', is a nerve-wracking journey of a nicotine addict, who, in spite of a lurking killer in her vicinity, ventures into the night to satiate her craving for cigarettes. The darkness hides more than just shadows, promising a suspenseful encounter. The second tale, 'Bishop of Battle', explores the dangerous obsession of a teenage arcade prodigy. His skill at a video game transcends the digital realm, summoning the game to claim him in reality. What begins as a harmless fascination morphs into a deadly trap, blurring the line between the virtual and the real. In the third story, 'The Benediction', a disillusioned priest abandons his monastery, forsaking his faith. As he embarks on a solitary journey through the desert, he is relentlessly pursued by a malevolent black pick-up truck, a literal hellhound on his trail. This tale, inspired by Steven Spielberg's 'Duel', weaves a haunting narrative of faith, abandonment, and fear. The final tale, 'Night of the Rat', takes place in the deceptive tranquility of suburbia. Here, a family finds themselves in a terrifying standoff with a colossal rat, a creature from their worst nightmares, dwelling within their own home. This story, drawing parallels with 'Poltergeist', delves into the horror lurking within familiar spaces, transforming a home into a battleground. 'Nightmares' is a riveting collection of short stories, each delving into the chilling realms of urban legends and the fears they invoke. From deadly obsessions to monstrous invaders, this anthology promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of horror.
