Night Watch (2005)

Embarking on a nocturnal voyage from dusk till dawn, we follow Victor, a streetwise hustler navigating the labyrinthine streets of Buenos Aires, from the All Saints Day twilight of November 1 to the break of All Souls Day on November 2. Victor's journey is both literal and metaphorical, weaving through the vibrant districts of Santa Fe and Pueyrredón, connecting with clients, acquaintances, and the denizens of a gay gym, a transient hotel room, and a café that never sleeps. In the midst of urban life's chaos, Victor finds solace in a pick-up soccer game with children, their parents scavenging through trash or biding time in parks. A chrysanthemum is gifted to him by a vendor, a symbol of mortality hinting at the omnipresent specter of death. An unsettling sensation haunts Victor, a feeling of being pursued through the shadowy cityscape where death prowls just around the corner. As the night unfolds, the question lingers: Will Victor manage to outlast the darkness and greet the dawn of a new day?
