Plot

In the throbbing heart of Budapest, amid the triumphant unveiling of Thomas A. Edison's miraculous incandescent light bulb, destiny gifts the world with identical twin sisters, Dóra and Lili. Born into hardship, they are left to eke out a living selling matches on the frost-bitten streets, until a chilling night separates them, and they are whisked away to different lives. As the 20th century dawns, their paths cross once more on the opulent Orient Express, their lives as contrasting as night and day. Dóra, the glamorous courtesan, has grown into a pseudo-aristocrat, luxuriating in precious jewels and delighting in the art of deception, swindling the pockets of the affluent. Meanwhile, Lili, the fervent feminist, has become an anarchist, her hands adept in crafting bombs, her heart aflame with idealism and the pursuit of women's rights. Their lives, as divergent as the tracks of the Orient Express, are bound to collide, as they travel obliviously under the same roof, all against the backdrop of the tumultuous Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Into this dynamic mix enters Z, a suave, enigmatic traveler who unwittingly becomes the catalyst that twines their fates together once more. As the 20th century races forward with relentless technological advancements, will the sisters' lives finally intertwine again, in a world struggling to keep up with its own progress?
