Plot

In the year 1973, following a jilted wedding in Rome, María, a spirited Spanish woman, abandons her past and soars towards Spain. Arriving at the bustling Barajas Airport in the heart of Madrid, she crosses paths with the vivacious Amparo, a stewardess brimming with life and laughter. With no family, money, or resources, María finds solace in Amparo's companionship and soon shares her job as an airport stewardess. A chance encounter with Pablo, a man she had previously bumped into at the airport, leads María to TVE (Televisión Española), the only Spanish TV channel of the time. Here, she is spotted by Chimo, a womanizing producer hell-bent on transforming her into a star for the famous late show "Las Noches de Rosa". Simultaneously, María rekindles her connection with Pablo, leading to a double date where Amparo meets Lucas and sparks fly. As María navigates the labyrinth of fame, she grapples with hurdles aplenty. Rosa, distrustful of María, demotes her to a substitute dancer. Pablo's father, Celedonio, a censor at TVE, is a relic of the Franco dictatorship, rejecting modernity and freedom in television. Oblivious to the Francoist Regime and its suffocating laws, María strives to acclimatize, finding them antiquated and stifling. Adding to the drama, Massimiliano, her scorned lover from Rome, appears in Madrid, desperate to reclaim María. As María's hopes of her debut appearance on the late-night show get hampered by the harsh censorship, she discovers that the censor is none other than Pablo, following in his father's oppressive footsteps. At the cusp of the New Year's Eve Special, the first live broadcast, María and Pablo find themselves at a crossroads. Pablo, torn between adhering to his father's path or carving his own, and María, caught between returning to Rome with Massimiliano or pursuing her dreams of dance and freedom, must make choices that will alter their lives forever. This captivating tale of love, dreams, and freedom set against the backdrop of the Francoist regime is sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
