In the heart of Boston, workaholic doctor Tess Harper operates tirelessly at Bayside General Hospital, a dedicated savior always at the ready to rescue others. Her white knight disposition extends to her boyfriend of two years, stockbroker Dex Richmond, and her childhood best friend, Amber Tilton. When Amber's wedding in Chicago beckons, Tess sees an opportunity: to advance her career with a fellowship at Northwestern University and tantalize Dex with the charm of the Windy City, hoping to coax a proposal from him. However, the pursuit of personal ambitions is disrupted when Dex abruptly backs out of the wedding, leaving Tess to face the celebration alone.
