Inherent Vice (2014)

It's 1970, and Larry Sportello doesn't match the traditional aesthetic of a private eye. But the drug-addled hippie has made a small name for himself catching cheaters and frauds in and around Gordita Beach. When his ex-lover shows up at his office asking him to help her find her missing sugar daddy, he finds himself involved in a conspiracy that pulses through the veins of Los Angeles. Along the way, he'll find himself catching the attention of wealthy pornographers, secret cults, and an international criminal consortium. But his most persistent irritation is the bullying cop Christian Bjornsen who seems to have an interest in making Larry's life difficult.
