Plot

In the shadowy world of murder and deceit, a seemingly straightforward strangulation case of a blackmailer stirs the quiet town. The jury is swayed towards a unanimous guilty verdict for a man charged with killing his co-tenant, Mrs. McGuinty. However, Miss Jane Marple, played with captivating wit by Dame Margaret Rutherford, stands as the sole beacon of dissent. Her "not guilty" vote halts the verdict, creating a tense 11-1 standoff. Embracing the role of an amateur sleuth, Miss Marple embarks on a personal quest to uncover the truth. Her investigation leads her into the heart of the local theatre troupe, the Cosgood Players. Directed by the flamboyant H. Driffold Cosgood, portrayed by Ron Moody, this theatre company held a peculiar interest for the deceased. Joining the troupe as an unpaid member, Miss Marple finds herself in the middle of an unfolding mystery when one of the actors, George Rowton, is poisoned minutes before a performance. With her conviction unwavering, Miss Marple links the murders, believing the same hand dealt both fatal blows. As the curtains rise and fall on the Cosgood Players, the clues point to a disastrous 1951 performance of a lamentable play penned by Cosgood himself. Though many of the cast were mere children then, the past seems to be catching up in a deadly manner. When another murder follows within the company, Miss Marple suspects that she may have been the intended target all along. Navigating a labyrinth of secrets, Miss Marple remains undeterred, her sharp mind cutting through the fog of mystery. As the final act unravels, she must piece together the fragments of this deadly puzzle and expose the true killer before it's too late. Murder Most Foul (1964) promises a thrilling ride of suspense, intrigue, and unexpected twists, where the stage is set for a murder most foul, and only the most cunning will survive.
