Mulberry Street (2006)

In the heart of Manhattan, nestled on Mulberry Street, stands a crumbling tenement, a relic of a bygone era. It's here that Ross, the beleaguered superintendent, grapples with the ravages of time, laboring tirelessly to mend the building's derelict systems and improve the lives of its eclectic inhabitants. Among them is Clutch, an erstwhile boxer turned reluctant leader, who anxiously anticipates the return of his beloved daughter, Casey, a war-weary veteran fresh from the battlefield's horrors. In anticipation of her homecoming, Clutch collaborates with Coco, his flamboyant and endearing neighbor, to orchestrate a heartwarming surprise. Life within Mulberry Street's timeworn walls is a tapestry of intertwined relationships. Clutch harbors a tender affection for Kay, a single mother waiting tables to make ends meet, while her rebellious teenage son, Otto, sees in Clutch a father figure. Clutch's circle of companions extends to Frank, a cancer-afflicted World War II veteran, and Charlie, a close friend grappling with his own demons. But as the city's pulse beats on, a sinister undercurrent stirs in its veins. A terrifying onslaught of rat attacks at subway stations prompts a city-wide shutdown, and soon, a mysterious virus carried by the mutant rats triggers a horrifying transformation. Those bitten by the rats metamorphose into ravenous, ratlike mutants, their humanity devoured by a monstrous pandemic. The virus's gruesome effects plunge Manhattan into chaos, leading to a quarantine that seals the city off from the world. As night descends and the horrors multiply, the tenants of Mulberry Street face their gravest test. Clutch, the building's de facto guardian, must rally his makeshift family and summon the fortitude to protect his daughter and friends. Together, they must navigate a labyrinth of fear and uncertainty, fighting tooth and nail against an onslaught of the rat/cannibal hybrids that threaten to consume their lives. Amidst the pandemonium, the residents of Mulberry Street must unite and confront the monstrous menace, their survival hanging by a thread in the suffocating New York night.
