Plot

In the heart of China, 15-year-old Wei-wei finds herself steering the reins of a dwindling circus troupe after her grandfather's death in the catastrophic Great Sichuan Earthquake. The aftermath leaves her grappling with a mountain of debt, and her only ally is Ling-ling, a distinctive 45-year-old gorilla with an unexpected talent for baseball, a passion sown by Wei-wei's grandfather. As the crushing weight of the debt threatens to dismantle their makeshift family, a potential lifeline emerges in the form of Sung Chung-su, a shrewd and materialistic sports agent. Captivated by Ling-ling's extraordinary hitting skills, Sung proposes a daring venture: to sign Ling-ling, now affectionately known as "Mr. Go", into the professional South Korean Baseball League. Despite skepticism from the baseball community, Sung's strategic maneuvering pays off, and Mr. Go soon becomes a sensation, hitting consecutive home runs and leading his team, Doosan, to a string of victories. His ascension to fame is so meteoric that he garners the admiration of even his fiercest competitors' fans. However, amidst the whirlwind of success, Wei-wei and Sung overlook Ling-ling's deteriorating knee condition. As rival Japanese baseball clubs clamor to sign a groundbreaking scouting deal with "Mr. Go", the world's first gorilla pinch hitter faces a daunting challenge. Collapsing on the field, unable to swing his bat, the future of this unusual baseball star hangs in the balance, leaving viewers to wonder - what happens next?
