Plot

Welcome to the world of Arlo Pear! A devoted family man with a sweet wife, rebellious daughter, twin sons, and a barely-living canine companion, Arlo leads a comfortable life as a mass transit engineer in New Jersey. However, life throws a curveball when he loses his job, prompting a frantic search for new employment. Fate leads him to a similar role, but in the far-flung locale of Boise, Idaho. This change might be just what Arlo needs to escape his eccentric neighbor with an inexplicably colossal lawnmower. The real challenge, though, is breaking the news to his family. Before long, the verdict is in: they're relocating. The process of selling their home unfolds in a series of comedic misadventures, leading to their urgent need for movers. Enter two ex-convicts turned movers, accompanied by the imposing King Kong Bundy. Their next mission? Finding an idyllic home in Idaho. When they finally stumble upon their dream house, they bid New Jersey farewell and set their sights on Boise. In another twist of events, Arlo entrusts his beloved SAAB to a man (Dana Carvey) with eight distinct personalities, oblivious to his complex nature. The Pear family's new abode turns out to be a far cry from their expectations, and to their disbelief, their New Jersey neighbor's twin—complete with another monstrous mower—lives next door. As if the comedy of errors couldn't worsen, Arlo loses his newfound job, and the movers are nowhere in sight. Now, it's time for Arlo Pear to roll up his sleeves and take matters into his own hands in a bid to restore his family's life to normalcy.
