Plot

In the desolate realm of San Pablo's waterfront, the solitary dockworker Bobo, a man of formidable strength and a profound fondness for drink, finds himself lost in the throes of a drunken stupor. Waking from his haze on an isolated bait barge, with no memory of the night before, Bobo is haunted by the chilling fear that he may have strangled his acquaintance, Pop Kelly, whose lifeless body was recently discovered. Befriending Nutsy, the barge's watchful night guardian, Bobo seeks solace in this seafaring sanctuary. Under the blanket of night, he rescues a fragile soul, Anna, from a doomed attempt to surrender herself to the sea's merciless depths. He brings her aboard the barge, a sanctuary amidst the misty waters, where their bond blossoms into a deep and unexpected love, igniting the embers of hope and resolution to wed. However, their newfound bliss is threatened by the parasitic presence of Tiny, Bobo's erstwhile companion. Long nourished by Bobo's generosity, Tiny perceives Anna as a threat to his comfortable existence. As he plots to cast Anna adrift, the unresolved mystery of Pop Kelly's murder unfolds, providing him with the perfect wedge to fracture their burgeoning love story. With a shroud of fog veiling the waterfront and sinister plans simmering beneath the surface, Moontide paints a suspenseful narrative of love, guilt, and friendship interwoven with the raw, rustic charm of the dockside life.
