Mikey and Nicky (1976)

In the dimly lit world of a budget hotel room, Nick, a man teetering on the edge of despair, finds himself trapped by an ulcer and a chilling certainty that a menacing mobster is hunting him. The only lifeline he can think of is his childhood companion, Mikey. But even as Mikey reaches out to him, Nick's turbulent emotions keep him at bay. Thus ensues an intense, nocturnal odyssey as Mikey strives to soothe Nick and whisk him away from the danger looming over them. Their journey, on foot and aboard a city bus, leads them through the pulsating heart of the city – a bar buzzing with life, a club throbbing with music, a movie theater whispering tales of escape, and even to the solemn silence of a cemetery where Nick's mother rests. Their path also brings them to the doorstep of Nick's lover’s apartment. As the hours wear thin, tension escalates and the bonds of their friendship are severely tested. All the while, an assassin lurks in the shadows, fed by an unknown informant, his deadly sights set on Nick. Mikey and Nicky's tale is an intense, moving exploration of friendship, fear, and a desperate dance with danger. Will they outrun the mobster's wrath, or will the dawn bring a deadly denouement?
