Caught in the whirlwind of modern life, TV reporter Rob Salinger finds his marriage to the industrious Micki strained by their divergent schedules. Their lives brush past each other in fleeting moments, fostering a loneliness that leaves Rob yearning for companionship. In one such moment of solitude, he finds himself captivated by the enchanting Maude, a cellist whose melodies resonate with his heartstrings.
