Plot

In "Marigold" (2007), we follow the heart-tugging journey of Marigold Lexton, an American actress born into the solitude of being an only child, her mother having passed away at a tender age. Her passionate interest in acting stirs the disapproval of her distant father, pushing her into a life of small-budget movies and unremarkable sequels, including the likes of "Fatal Attraction" and "Basic Instinct". An unexpected role in the controversial "Kama Sutra 3" whisks her away to the pulsating heart of India, painting her path from the bustling streets of Mumbai to the idyllic charm of Goa. Marigold's world spirals when she discovers the abrupt cancellation of her movie, leaving her stranded with a one-way ticket and no way home. Opportunity knocks in the form of a minor role in a Bollywood musical under the direction of the enigmatic Manoj Sharma. Here, she dances into the life of Prem Rajput, a charismatic dance instructor carrying a peculiar prophecy about marrying a woman named Marigold. As Marigold is drawn into the vibrant rhythm of Bollywood and the allure of Prem, she finds herself accompanying him to the royal tapestry of his ancestral home in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. This journey coincides with the festive spirit of his sister, Pooja's wedding. However, beneath the grandeur, Marigold uncovers the stern tradition of arranged marriages, and a bride-to-be named Jhanvi who is already betrothed to Prem. A collision course between love and tradition is set in the royal Rajput household, pushing Marigold into an unforeseen transformation. "Marigold" is a tale of self-discovery, love, and the clash of cultures, set against the mesmerizing backdrop of Bollywood's high-energy dance and drama.
