Plot

In the vibrant tapestry of Indian society, we meet Ajay Chandra (Amitabh Bachchan), a part-time crooner and ambitious entrepreneur running a humble galvanometer manufacturing venture from a shared, compact workspace. Ajay brims with dreams larger than life, dreams that begin to manifest in his heart when he encounters the enchanting Aruna Khosla (Moushumi Chatterjee) at a bustling wedding reception. Sparks fly and hearts flutter as they find themselves drawn to each other amidst the festive revelry. Aruna, born into affluence, is light years away from Ajay's modest world. Fearful that the truth of his circumstances might extinguish the budding flame between them, Ajay borrows the opulent lifestyle of his wealthy friend, Prakash Mariwalla, to impress Aruna and her family. His charade, though far from reality, manages to charm Aruna's mother (Urmilla Bhatt) and her stern lawyer father (Satyen Kappu) - at least for a while. When the curtain of deception is inevitably pulled back, Mr. Khosla's reaction is swift and severe. He not only forbids Aruna from seeing Ajay again but also prosecutes Ajay in a court of law, accusing him of producing sub-standard galvanometers. As Ajay stands in the courtroom, his defense lawyer, Mr. Kapoor (Shreeram Lagoo), presents a startling argument - Ajay is not the perpetrator, but a victim. Meanwhile, Ajay's business dreams crumble under the ruthless competition, and he finds himself at a crossroads, his aspirations fading. Yet, when he bares his heart to Aruna, she stands by him, her love unwavering even in the face of adversity. As Ajay fights to correct his wrongdoings and regain his lost honor, he finds support not only from Aruna but also from his resilient mother. 'Manzil' is a story of love and ambition, a tale of a man who dreams big and the woman who loves him as he is. It's a journey of resilience, of standing tall amidst the storms of life, and of the power of truth in the face of deception.
