As the grim shadow of Jack the Ripper looms ominously over the fog-drenched streets of Whitechapel, London, in 1888, the city is held captive in a vice of fear. On the very night of the Ripper's third gruesome killing, the enigmatic and soft-spoken Mr. Slade appears, seeking refuge within the home of Helen and William Harley. His intention: to rent rooms, including a gloomy attic space for his "experiments". Slade, a revered pathologist and researcher at a prominent hospital, is an oddity, shrouded in a cloak of solitude and mystery, his presence stirring an unsettling curiosity within the household.
