Plot

Rachel Phelps inherits the Cleveland Indians baseball team from her deceased husband. Phelps is desperate to move the team to Miami, where it can be more profitable. However, in order to do that, Phelps must drive the team's attendance to below 800,000, as that is the only way she will legally be able to move the team. Phelps loads the team with a bunch of has-beens and never-was players, including prima donnas, outcasts, and convicts. To Phelps' surprise, the team starts to gel and win, pushing to capture the pennant and driving Phelps mad in the process.
