Plot

After persistently working for sixteen long months at Victory Aircraft, the vivacious and streetwise Maisie Ravier, typically a vaudeville performer, finds herself diagnosed with stress. The company doctor's orders? A mandatory two-week vacation. To make the most of her break, Tommy Cutter, a bandleader and an old acquaintance, proposes a tempting offer: a singing gig in Reno. The only hitch? Maisie must navigate the war-stricken travel conditions on her own to reach her destination. Battling against all odds, Maisie makes it to Reno, but instead of immersing herself in her singing career, she finds herself entangled in the complicated marital affairs of Sgt. Bill Fullerton and his affluent wife, Gloria Fullerton. Gloria, convinced that her husband is only interested in her wealth, is in Reno for a quick divorce. However, Maisie suspects foul play, particularly from Gloria's shifty business manager, Roger Pelham, and her personal secretary, Winifred Ashbourne. Armed with a letter from Sgt. Bill, a starry-eyed bellhop named Jerry by her side, and an unshakeable belief that something sinister is afoot, Maisie dives headfirst into the investigation. Her determination to unveil the truth threatens to disrupt her budding romance with Flip Hennahan, a charismatic blackjack dealer. Meanwhile, the pressures of her meddling and the infamous eye twitch— a physical manifestation of her stress that is often mistaken for a flirtatious wink — threaten to pull her deeper into a whirlpool of trouble. The plot of ‘Maisie Goes to Reno’ is a captivating blend of intrigue, romance, and comedy, inviting viewers to join Maisie on her exhilarating journey as she strives to uncover the truth, save a marriage, and maybe, just maybe, find a little bit of love along the way.
