Plot

Maggie Scott, a rising star at the luxurious New York clothing store Barclay Ames, finds herself quickly ascending from a model to an assistant buyer. Her rapid rise is a blend of hard work, natural talent, and a touch of romance with "Barclay Jr.", Ted, a notorious ladies man who sees more in Maggie than his usual flings. As the model of professionalism, Maggie maintains a cool demeanor, sparking even more interest from Ted. However, her career trajectory takes an unexpected turn when her boss, Irene Chase, suddenly announces her marriage and honeymoon, leaving Maggie to fill her shoes on a critical buying trip to Paris. With the pressure of attending the premier showing of famed designer Marc Fontaine’s latest collection, Maggie must navigate the glamorous yet cutthroat world of fashion, knowing her performance could make or break her career. Despite her inexperience, Ted, in a bid to secure Maggie's success, enlists the help of his Paris-based journalist friend, Herb Stone. Herb, a ladies man himself, is tasked with looking after Maggie during her time in Paris. However, upon her arrival, Maggie uncovers the shocking truth that Irene's trips involved more than just business, revealing a casual romantic relationship with Marc Fontaine himself. Marc, used to Irene’s company, now finds himself intrigued by the fresh and innocent Maggie. Herb, too, becomes captivated, complicating matters further. As if the situation wasn't complex enough, Ted arrives in Paris, determined to salvage the account but ends up stirring more chaos. Amid the whirlwind of Parisian fashion and tangled relationships, Maggie must not only save the vital contract with Fontaine but also discover what she truly desires, ultimately defining her persona in life and love.
