Plot

In the haunting wake of their baby's untimely death, a grieving couple, Grant and Christine, seek solace in the remote seaside residence of an old friend, Dean. His world, shared with his younger girlfriend, Freya, is an idyllic haven of escapism, nestled amid the evocative sounds of the sea. However, the tranquility is disrupted by Dean's futile struggle against alcohol and Freya's anxiety over their age gap. Over the course of an emotionally charged long weekend, repressed memories, unresolved resentments, and old flames resurface, throwing their seemingly serene world into turmoil. As Christine unveils her intimate secrets to Dean, she shatters his delicate equilibrium, disrupting the comforting realm of children's tales and fantasy he has carefully constructed. The absence of their lost child becomes a haunting presence, as his short-lived life unfolds through a series of surreal, hallucinatory dreams. "Luna" is a poignant exploration of reality through the lens of fantasy, juxtaposing the palpable with the ephemeral, the ordinary with the extraordinary. This cinematic masterpiece marries live action with the distinctive animation and graphics of Dave McKean, creating a compelling narrative that transcends the boundaries of the mundane to touch upon the ethereal aspects of existence. The film invites viewers on a profound journey where dreams become a gateway to unspoken grief, unearthing the raw intricacies of human emotions under the veil of an enchanting fantasia.
