Plot

On the precipice of adulthood, the disillusioned and restless Lidda Daniels, played by Kirsten Dunst, leaves the sun-soaked beaches of Southern California behind as she embarks on a quest to find her estranged father, Charlie, a notorious professional gambler who vanished from her life years ago. A chance encounter leads her to Colonel, a charismatic yet mysterious video store clerk who, behind his modest exterior, harbors dreams of poker stardom. Grabbing life by the deck of cards, Colonel is all too eager to join Lidda on her journey to the neon-lit battleground of Las Vegas, drawn not only by the allure of high-stakes games but also by the enigmatic Lidda herself. In the whirlwind of Vegas' shimmering lights and dingy back-rooms, the pair wade through layers of deception to track down Charlie, now embroiled in his own web of dangerous gambles. James Caan delivers a riveting performance as Charlie, freshly returned to the city that never sleeps for a poker showdown against Tony, his old adversary, who is fueled by an explosive blend of jealousy and bitterness. As the stakes rise, Tony's obsession with winning spirals out of control, manifesting into a deadly habit of employing hit men to eliminate anyone who dares to outplay him. Amidst the sizzling tension of poker tables and the sinister undercurrent of Tony's revenge, Lidda finds herself grappling with her boyfriend's desire for a footloose existence. Their conflicting ambitions threaten to fray the seams of their relationship, adding another layer of complexity to their chaotic voyage. In the heart of Luckytown, every player has their hand to play, but the question remains - in a world where trust is as elusive as a winning streak, can anyone truly come out on top?
