Loverboy (1989)

In the whirlwind life of college sophomore Randy Bodek, focus is a scarce commodity. His heart belongs to his roommate, Jenny Gordon, but his actions paint a different picture, leaving Jenny feeling neglected. The fact that he's concealed their cohabitation from his parents, Diane and Joe Bodek, only deepens Jenny's hurt, leading to a painful breakup as the academic year closes. Returning home for summer, Randy faces his father's stern decision to halt funding his education, thanks to his failing grades and lack of academic direction. Desperate and aimless, Randy secures a minimum-wage job at Senor Pizza, hoping to earn enough to return to college and, possibly, Jenny. Among his customers is Alex Barnett, an attractive, mature woman with a penchant for pizzas topped with extra anchovies. Alex's allure proves irresistible to Randy, leading to an unexpected liaison, at the end of which he finds himself $200 richer. Unbeknownst to him, Alex spreads word of his services among her lonely, love-starved friends, igniting a flurry of orders for pizzas with the specific "extra anchovies" request. Though initially uncomfortable with his new role as a "Loverboy", Randy acquiesces, seeing it as a means to fund his education and a chance to win Jenny back. As he navigates these amorous adventures, he learns that these women crave not only physical intimacy but companionship, romance, and attention—the very things he failed to provide Jenny. But this secret life teeters on the edge of exposure. The threat of discovery looms large, from his unsuspecting boss, irate husbands, his oblivious parents, and Jenny, who might not be as alone as he thinks. Meanwhile, Diane and Joe Bodek grapple with their own marital woes on the brink of their twentieth anniversary, a problem Diane begins to believe could be resolved with a certain $200 pizza adorned with extra anchovies. As Randy's two worlds collide, the stage is set for a summer he'll never forget.
