Love and Anarchy (1973)

In the tumultuous 1930s Italy, beneath the shadow of Benito Mussolini's rule, a freckled, melancholy peasant named Tonino, known as Tunin, embarks on a daring journey to Rome. Driven by anarchist ideals and a burning desire to carry on his late friend's interrupted mission, he arrives with a single, deadly goal — to assassinate the dictator. Tunin's key contact in Rome is Salome, a spirited flapper who doubles as a popular courtesan at the city's premier brothel. She cleverly introduces him as her cousin, providing him a safe haven within the bordello's vibrant yet secretive world. As a steadfast revolutionary herself, she aids Tunin in his meticulous preparation for the looming assassination, scheduled just days after his arrival. However, the realm of the brothel is not just a hideout for Tunin, but an unexpected realm of sensuality and affection. Within a day, he finds himself deeply infatuated with Tripolina, a youthful and alluring prostitute. A favour done for the madam earns Tripolina two days off, and she chooses to spend them in the smitten anarchist's company, sparking a passionate love affair. Now, Tunin is caught in a whirlwind of emotion and duty. His newfound love for Tripolina tugs at his heart, threatening to derail his mission.
