Plot

Once upon a time, Xu Lai was a promising artist, driven by his dreams and the love for the woman of his fantasies. However, the relentless tide of life swept away his ambitions, leaving him marooned in a life of banality. Now, his days are consumed by designing bras, placating his wife, Cai Bo, who is consumed by her desire for children, and navigating the eccentricities of his peculiar in-laws. Fifteen years have passed, and Xu Lai's existence has become a monotonous symphony of the ordinary. But amidst this humdrum, he still harbors a glimmer of hope - a secret rendezvous with his long-lost love, Yang YIi. His upcoming family vacation, now including his DVD-pirating, aspiring-documentarian brother-in-law, holds a secret agenda: a fleeting opportunity to rekindle the flame of his past romance. However, fate has a twisted sense of humor, and Xu Lai's dream soon spirals into an unexpected nightmare. His simple plan to escape his clan for a covert meetup turns into a high-stakes game when he finds himself entangled in a chilling murder investigation. Suddenly, his hot pursuit isn't for an old flame, but to evade the relentless law enforcement who are keen to have a word with him. 'Lost in Hong Kong' is an intricate tapestry of unfulfilled dreams, unexpected adventures, and bizarre family dynamics, where the mundane life of an everyday man turns into an extraordinary saga of chaos and excitement. As Xu Lai navigates this roller-coaster, he discovers that reality can indeed be stranger, and more thrilling, than any fiction he had ever dreamt of.
