Plot

In the heart of Manchester, Eric Bishop, a beleaguered middle-aged postman, battles an escalating personal crisis. Life after his second partner's mysterious disappearance post-prison release is anything but a peaceful stroll. Eric finds himself stranded in a whirlwind of chaos, charged with the care of two rebellious stepsons who seem to be perpetually at odds with his authority. The plot thickens when Ryan, the elder stepson, drawn to the allure of Zac, a notorious gangster, stashes a firearm in their home. Meanwhile, Sam, Eric's daughter balancing university and new motherhood, pleads with him to reconnect with Lily, his long-estranged wife and Sam's mother. Eric's past haunts him as he recalls leaving Lily shortly after their daughter's birth, triggering a wave of panic and self-reproach. In his despair, Eric turns to a poster of his idol, the legendary French footballer Eric Cantona. As if lifted from a fable, Cantona appears much like a genie from Aladdin's lamp, offering guidance in the form of his signature aphorisms. This unlikely mentorship from the philosopher-footballer becomes Eric's beacon in the storm, offering a glimmer of hope as he navigates his tumultuous life.
