Liar's Moon (1982)

In the sultry heat of an East Texas summer, following their high school years, love blossoms between Jack and Ginny. Jack, a local boy, dares to fall for Ginny, the privileged daughter of the town's banker, who also happens to be Jack's mother's high school crush. Fresh from boarding school and destined for Vassar, Ginny chooses to defy her father's stern disapproval to spend her last summer at home with Jack. As the summer draws to a close, the young lovers make a bold decision to elope to Louisiana, a place where their tender age of 17 is no barrier to marriage. Life, however, gets more complicated as Jack finds work in the oil fields while Ginny discovers she is pregnant. Her father, relentless in his pursuit, hires a formidable private investigator to track them down. Meanwhile, Ginny receives devastating news from her town doctor, and Jack's mother reveals her own hidden intentions. The shadow of deception seems to hang over Jack and Ginny's innocent love, like a liar's moon in the night sky. Yet, the question remains: How far will these young sweethearts go in the face of such adversity?
