Plot

In the year 1941, as the dark shadow of World War II engulfs Europe, the Nazis extend their iron grip over half the continent and penetrate deep into Russian territory, laying siege to the city of Leningrad. After a relentless four-month offensive, Hitler concedes that the indomitable spirit of Leningrad cannot be broken by force. Instead, he implements a heartless strategy to encircle the city, trapping and starving its three million inhabitants over the course of three brutal years. Amidst this terrifying landscape of hunger and despair, a lone English journalist, Kate Davis, finds herself stranded in the beleaguered city. Assumed dead and abandoned during the mass evacuation of foreign journalists, Kate misses her chance for escape, becoming an unwitting participant in one of the most devastating sieges in history. In the belly of this famished metropolis, she encounters Nina Tsvetnova, a young and idealistic police officer. Bound by their shared struggle and the common goal of survival, these two women join forces, navigating the perils of a city under siege. Together, Kate and Nina wage a personal war against the monstrous realities of war, their tale of resilience and survival becoming an emblem of Leningrad's indomitable spirit.
