Plot

In the heartland's rugged wilderness, where cattle mysteriously vanish into thin air, Johnny, a seasoned rancher, urgently calls upon his steadfast friend Hoppy, an astute investigator. Entering into the fray, Hoppy's suspicions fall onto Dan Slack, the enigmatic ranch owner with a serpentine aura. When Hoppy realizes his message about Slack has been artfully intercepted, he locks up the conniving operator Lafe, fully aware of his ability to escape. As Lafe slithers away, Hoppy tenaciously tails him, uncovering a hidden gateway to an underground mine that harbors the secrets of the disappearing cattle. In the belly of this labyrinth, Hoppy stumbles upon the stolen cattle, but his discovery is accompanied by a chilling revelation - Slack's henchmen have found him amidst the stampeding herd within the mine tunnel. Meanwhile, Hoppy daringly infiltrates Slack's ranch, posing as a ranch hand to unravel the tangled web of deception. His covert operation takes a perilous turn when Slack's crew uncovers his true identity, framing him for a murder most foul. Just as the noose tightens, Bobby, an unexpected ally, steps forth with compelling evidence of Hoppy's innocence. The plot thickens as Hoppy cracks the case wide open, revealing a shocking alliance between Slack and Sam Bucktoe, who has been using his mine as a clandestine sanctuary for the rustled cattle. "Leather Burners" takes you on a suspense-laden odyssey into the wild frontiers of deceit, friendship, and justice, where secrets echo through the canyons and the pursuit of truth is as relentless as a thundering cattle stampede.
