Late Spring (2014)

Set against the backdrop of the 1960s post-war Korea, the film "Late Spring" paints a poignant picture of hope, inspiration, and the power of art in a nation's struggle to rebuild. Joo Goo, a world-renowned sculptor and pillar of the Korean art society, is confronted with a life-altering diagnosis - a debilitating disorder that promises to rob him of the ability to sculpt, and with it, his will to live. As despair engulfs him, he retreats from his art, his world shrinking to the confines of his ailment. Unable to bear the sight of her husband's gradual decay, his wife, Jung Sook, embarks on a quest to reignite his passion for art. She believes that a new muse might stoke the dying embers of his creativity. Her search leads her to Min Gyung, a young war widow trying to raise her two children amidst the shadows of loss. "Late Spring" is a compelling narrative of personal battles, national recovery, and the redemptive power of art, told through the lens of these three intertwined lives.
