Kyon Ki... (2005)

Colonel Khurana, a wealthy Indian widower, establishes a private sanatorium after accumulating a fortune in London. His esteemed institution, dedicated to the mentally ill, is guided by his daughter, Dr. Tanvi Khurana, who serves as one of the primary psychiatrists, and his deputy, Dr. Sunil. Dr. Tanvi, a compassionate soul, is deeply affected when her patient Shobhna Mathur, whom she treated as a motherly figure, leaves the institution without any memory of her. Swearing off personal attachments, Tanvi's resolve is tested with the arrival of a new patient, Anand J. Sharma, admitted under a court order. Anand, the son of Dr. Sunil's benefactor and mentor, is accused of killing his fiancée, Maya, a tragedy that left him mentally unstable. His antics, initially irksome to Tanvi, soon reveal a man grappling with his past and the loss of his beloved. As Tanvi and Sunil delve deeper into Anand's case, they begin to unravel the truth behind Maya's death, believed to be an accident, not a murder. In the process of healing Anand, an unexpected bond of love blossoms between him and Tanvi, challenging her professional and personal boundaries. However, Colonel Khurana, a stern disciplinarian, has already chosen a suitor, Karan, for his daughter and refuses to contemplate the possibility of Tanvi marrying a patient, let alone one charged with murder. As Tanvi and Anand navigate the turbulent waters of love, loss, and mental health, they must confront the harsh realities of society's prejudices and their own deepest fears.
