Plot

In a quaint village, Sivaji commands deep respect as a tireless benefactor, often at the cost of his personal life with his wife Padmini. Despite their long marriage, they remain childless, a fact that weighs heavily on them. Meanwhile, Sivaji's younger brother Jaishankar is smitten by Vanisri, the daughter of Nambiar, the village's cunning grocery store owner. Nambiar, known for his adulterated goods and inflated prices, enjoys a monopoly until Sivaji introduces a village cooperative society's grocery shop. The new competition hits Nambiar hard, but when he discovers his daughter's affection for Jaishankar, his mind starts plotting division and discord. Initially hesitant about Jaishankar's marriage to Vanisri, Sivaji relents upon recognizing her virtuous character. Post-marriage, Padmini and Vanisri form a sisterly bond, unyielding to Nambiar's designs of familial division. Simultaneously, both women find themselves expectant. However, fate deals a cruel blow as Vanisri's child is stillborn. Unbeknownst to her, Padmini, moved by her sister-in-law's grief, hands over her own newborn to Vanisri. Nambiar, seizing another opportunity, persuades Jaishankar to stake a claim to his family's wealth, leaving Sivaji stunned. Sivaji, in a poignant climax, offers his brother a choice - loyalty to him or the family riches. In the end, Vanisri reveals she is aware of the true maternity of her son, and the family unites, defying Nambiar's machinations. Their love for each other and their shared child binds them together, painting a picture of harmony and familial bliss.
