Plot

In the shadowy alleys of the underworld, swindler Eddie Sullivan (Feuerstein) finds himself ensnared in the dangerous web of debt to a formidable local crime boss. Seeking a quick escape, he fashions an audacious plan involving Walter (Wight), a kindly giant ignorant of his role in Eddie's grand scheme. Walter's lifelong sanctuary, a struggling orphanage, is on the brink of financial ruin. When Eddie stumbles upon Walter's dire situation, he persuasively presents his plan to Sister Francesca (Malick), the stern yet caring head nun. He offers a ray of hope, suggesting that Walter, with his imposing stature, could earn a fortune in the illicit world of underground fighting. This, he claims, could save the orphanage from its impending doom. Traveling from one rustic town to another, Eddie, Walter, and Mary (Hardin)—a chaperone appointed by Sister Francesca to guard both Walter and the burgeoning winnings—embark on a whirlwind journey. Their destination: the annual Pro-Am MMA tournament in vibrant New Orleans. Along the way, Walter's naive eyes open to the world beyond the orphanage walls, while Eddie grapples with an unexpected moral dilemma. With the tempting pile of money at stake, Eddie must choose between betraying his newfound friend Walter, or honoring his word and saving the only home Walter has ever known.
