The tragic real story of Hypatia of Alexandria is told through the lens of modern sensibilities. It's 391 AD, and Hypatia is a pagan philosopher and scientist who's well-regarded by pagans and Christians alike for her wit, intelligence, and virtue. Hypatia has largely remained a popular figure thanks to her religious tolerance, but it's becoming harder to avoid taking sides at least implicitly. The religious fervor is inseparable from the political factions rising up, and the conflict will soon boil over into a conflict that spills into the marketplace. And betrayal may come in the form of Hypatia's most trusted servant.
