Plot

In the gripping tale of Klondike, Dr. Robert Cromwell faces the immense pressure of pioneering a medical procedure, a venture that swiftly turns tragic when the patient dies. The nation watches as Cromwell stands trial for manslaughter and malpractice, only to be acquitted by the jury. Yet, the relentless court of public opinion and the looming threat of losing his medical license from the medical board remain his constant shadows. In a bid to escape the damning verdict of the public, Cromwell, a passionate amateur pilot, embarks on an ambitious journey with his friend, WWI Ace Donald Evans. They aim to discover a shorter route to Japan, a treacherous path skirting along the Aleutian Islands. However, their daring venture ends in catastrophe when they crash in Alaska, leaving Evans dead and Cromwell fighting for life. Rescued from the brink of death by a rugged fur trapper, Tom Ross, Cromwell is brought to Armstrong's Trading Post. Here, he is nursed back to health by the compassionate Klondike, a diligent girl engaged to Armstrong's son, Jim. Stricken by the same disease that claimed Cromwell's previous patient, Jim becomes the center of a renewed sense of purpose for the disgraced doctor. Persuaded by Mark, Cromwell decides to attempt the same operation that once led to his downfall. This time, the operation is a success, but the victory is short-lived as Jim decides to feign failure, setting the stage for a dramatic climax.
