Plot

In the heart of a tight-knit town, the annual "King of the River" fishing competition is about to stir the waters of family secrets and personal rivalries. King of the River (1995) tells the story of a child born under a veil of mystery. A world-weary air-hostess, grappling with the unknown identity of her child's father, hands her newborn to her sister, a mother of two. This child grows, nestled in a loving family, yet marked by his undisclosed origin. As the town buzzes with the anticipation of the fishing competition, the invisible threads of this complex family tapestry are pulled taut. The child, now grown, stands at a crossroads with his two siblings—one, a self-serving opportunist with a cunning eye on the girl next door, and the other, a kind-hearted soul striving to uphold the moral compass of the family. Unaware of the adult secrets, the children understand the subtle differences that set them apart. As the competition unfolds, it becomes more than a contest for the biggest catch—it turns into a crucible of character, revealing the true essence of these two boys raised under the same roof, yet worlds apart. King of the River serves as a vivacious portrayal of a family navigating the torrents of hidden truths, youthful rivalry, and the trials of growing up.
