Plot
Upon completion of his military service, Walter Gulick returns to his birthplace, the quaint, nostalgic Cream Valley, New York. Orphaned as a babe, Gulick is drawn back to his roots, hoping to establish a humble life as a mechanic. Yet, fate has a different path in store for him. After losing his money in a game of chance, Walter finds himself in the vibrant, sweat-soaked world of a boxing camp, serving as a sparring partner.
The camp's owner, Willy Grogan, is a man of charm and vice, bearing a weakness for gambling and a secret that ties him to the ominous underworld of mobsters.
