Plot

In the sweltering heat of post-World War II Florida Keys, Frank McCloud embarks on a journey to honor the memory of a fallen comrade. His destination is a dilapidated hotel in Key Largo, managed by his friend's widow, the resilient Nora Temple, and her wheelchair-bound father-in-law, the indomitable James Temple. Upon arrival, Frank is greeted not only by the Temples' warm hospitality but also by an unnerving surprise - the hotel, closed for the season, is harboring a nest of underworld vipers. The hotel's unwelcome guests are led by Johnny Rocco, a ruthless mobster who was expelled from the U.S but has slithered back from Cuba, using the hotel as a sanctuary to conduct illicit business with his criminal cohorts. As a hurricane ominously brews in the distance, the hotel morphs into a volatile pressure cooker, with the Temples and Frank becoming trapped as virtual prisoners in this fortress of crime. Despite the scars of war that have left Frank disillusioned with violence, he finds himself drawn into the fray. The venomous Rocco's cruel treatment of his alcoholic girlfriend, Gaye Dawn, and his role in the tragic demise of the Osceola Brothers and a local deputy, ignites a spark within McCloud. Torn between his desire for peace and the need to protect the innocent, Frank must overcome his inner turmoil and confront the lurking menace. In the eye of the storm, Key Largo becomes a battleground of honor, courage, and redemption, as the hurricane of events forces McCloud to question his principles and ultimately decide where his true loyalty lies.
