In the wake of a disturbing burglary in their New York City apartment, engaged couple Jessica and Evan Crowder find themselves yearning for safety and serenity. With Jessica's heightened sense of insecurity pushing them, they make a drastic decision to purchase a house they can scarcely afford in the tranquillity of the suburbs. Though Evan resents everything about this new life - from the gruelling commute to the city for a job he loathes, to the massive mortgage - he tolerates it for the sake of his love for Jessica. The stress and strain of their new situation begin to reveal themselves, with Evan increasingly frustrated at Jessica's seemingly carefree lifestyle as a freelance graphic designer. Their only solace in this unfamiliar territory appears in the form of their intriguing next-door neighbour, Simon, who appears to be a charm from the past, embodying the essence of the early 1960s. However, Jessica finds herself questioning Simon's authenticity, sensing that his antiquated facade seems too perfect. Amidst this growing suspicion and the increasing tension between Jessica and Evan, Jessica mysteriously vanishes, leaving behind a trail of questions and a deserted cell phone. While the evidence suggests that Jessica might have left due to dissatisfaction with their relationship, a chilling truth unravels. Simon, their seemingly pleasant neighbour, has abducted Jessica, imprisoning her in a fortified, surveillance-ridden dungeon beneath his house. This eerie space, meticulously decorated in the style of the idealized 1950s, serves as Simon's twisted playground where he intends to mould Jessica into his human Stepford wife, just like his previous captive, Robin. As Jessica fights for her freedom in this time-warped prison, her fiancé Evan, friend Oscar, and NYPD constable friend Tyler Haines race against time, piecing together the evidence to locate her. However, Jessica soon realizes that the terrorized and brainwashed Robin may pose an equal threat as Simon, as she struggles to survive and prevent herself from becoming the next Stepford wife in Simon's horrifying collection.
