Plot

In the verdant heartland of Kentucky, the long-standing feud between two of the state's oldest families, the Dillons and the Goodwins, has endured since the Civil War, casting a shadow over the land into 1938. This tale of enmity and love is interwoven with the thrilling pulse of horse racing, much like a Kentucky-born Romeo and Juliet. Jack Dillon, a rebellious son, spurns his father's banking empire and instead, under a cloak of anonymity, finds work in Sally Goodwin's stables. There, amidst the rhythmic hoofbeats and the scent of fresh hay, a clandestine romance blossoms between Jack and Sally, much unaware of their shared, contentious heritage. When Sally's father passes away, leaving a mountain of debt in his wake, the Goodwin estate – including the cherished horses – must be auctioned off. Amidst the chaos, a note surfaces from Sally's late father, revealing an old wager he made with the elder Dillon. This wager allows the Goodwins to claim any one horse from the Dillon's stable. The plot thickens when Sally discovers Jack's true identity as a Dillon, triggering a cascade of complications. Will their love triumph over the age-old feud, or will they become victims of their family's resentment? The suspense is as galloping as a racehorse in this heartening tale of love, family rivalries, and the power of legacy.
