Plot

Jiro Ono is one of the world's most renowned sushi chefs, but the appeal of his sushi is intrinsically tied into his philosophies of life. As the camera follows Jiro over the course of his days, the focus is on simplicity, function, and routine. Through the process of repeating the same tasks over and over again, Jiro has managed to take very simple sushi preparation techniques and draw the attention of the most picky diners. At the age of 85 years old his habits have barely changed, but he's eventually going to have to pass on his restaurant to a new generation.
