Plot

Plagued by a consuming drinking problem, seasoned detective Jesse Stone, abandons the sun-kissed streets of Santa Monica, California, trading them for the quaint tranquility of Paradise, Massachusetts. Here, he takes up residence in a secluded house, his only companion being his faithful, aging hound, Boomer. Invited into this serene coastal town by the influential counselor, Hastings Hathaway, Stone finds himself stepping into the retired shoes of former Chief Lou Carson. The quiet life he envisaged is shattered when he is thrust into his inaugural case, a domestic abuse incident involving the menacing Joe Genest, an abusive husband with a blatant disregard for restraining orders. Stone's decisive intervention stirs the still waters of Paradise, drawing the attention of Abby Taylor, a local attorney, who, captivated by his resolve, embarks on a passionate affair with him. However, when the retired chief Lou is mysteriously murdered, the tranquil town's underbelly of crime is exposed. Stone's suspicions are aroused as he finds links leading him back to Joe Genest and his connections to the mob. Hathaway's involvement also seems increasingly suspect. In a thrilling game of cat and mouse, Stone must unravel the web of deceit, striving to illuminate the truth hidden in the shadows of Paradise. As he navigates the murky waters of local politics and organized crime, he must win the trust of his new team, all while managing the complexities of an unfolding romance. Jesse Stone: Night Passage is a riveting tale of intrigue, love and the relentless pursuit of justice.
