Isle of the Snake People (1971)

Bathed in the enigma of voodoo rituals, the secluded island's inhabitants are bound in blind devotion to Damballah, a malevolent priest. They continue their eerie escapades, turning a deaf ear to the island's incompetent and alcohol-addled law enforcement. However, the tides begin to turn with the arrival of Captain Labesch. Determined to restore order amidst the island's rampant lawlessness, Labesch seeks assistance from the affluent plantation magnate, Carl Van Molder, who possesses not just half the island's wealth but also its inhabitants' reverence. A parapsychology devotee, Van Molder is entangled in the mysteries of the mind's hidden prowess and sternly warns Labesch against meddling with the island's deeply-rooted traditions. Simultaneously, Van Molder's niece, Annabella, a staunch advocate for temperance, steps onto the island with hopes of securing funds for the International Anti-Saloon League. Amidst the chaos, she finds herself drawn to the charming yet rum-loving police lieutenant, Andrew Wilhelm. As the island descends further into the grasp of the cult, native girls are grotesquely morphed into zombies under the hypnotic sway of Kalea, a mysterious snake dancer. These zombified maidens rise to protect their unholy rites, savagely attacking any lawmen daring enough to venture too close. The situation spirals out of control when Annabella is snatched for a terrifying human sacrifice. In a desperate bid to save her, Labesch and Wilhelm must infiltrate the cult's core, leading them to the shocking revelation of Damballah's true identity.
