Plot
In the midst of the First Balkan War in 1912, the ruthless Greek General Nikolas Pherides, known as the Watchdog, and the daring American journalist Oliver Davis, venture to a secluded island. Their mission, a solemn one, is to visit the grave of Pherides' wife. Upon arrival, they are stunned to discover the grave desecrated, the body missing, and the eerie echo of a woman's song hanging in the air.
Their curiosity piqued, they soon encounter the enigmatic archaeologist Albrecht, his cryptic servant Madame Kyra, and a handful of Albrecht's acquaintances, including St. Aubyn, his wife Mary, their servant Thea, and Andrew Robbins. Welcomed into this odd assembly, Pherides and Oliver are invited to stay the night. But as darkness falls, the island takes a sinister turn when Andrew dies mysteriously.
Summoned, Dr. Drossos reveals the chilling cause of death—pestilence. With the threat of plague looming, the island becomes their prison, quarantined until the warm Sirocco winds blow across the island, halting the spread of the disease. But as more fall victim to the plague, paranoia and fear seep into the hearts of the survivors.
Adding a layer of terror to their predicament, the superstitious Madame Kyra spins tales of the Vorvolaka, a vampire-like creature said to feed on the living. She points an accusatory finger at Thea, branding her the embodiment of the evil demon. As the island descends into a vortex of fear and suspicion, Pherides and Oliver must protect Thea, not just from the plague, but from the mounting hysteria of those around them.
In this lonely Greek island, the lines between reality and superstition blur, creating a tense, fear-tinged atmosphere where survival is as uncertain as the shifting shadows of the night.
